12th Consecutive Playground Build

12/23/19

In mid-September, more than 40 Ingredion employees helped construct a playground and transform the grounds of the Francis W. Parker Elementary School in Indianapolis. More than 200 volunteers, including several players from the Indianapolis Colts football team and sponsors, worked together to build the playground and refurbish the grounds in one day.

“This build marks the twelfth consecutive year of Ingredion’s partnership with the Indianapolis Colts professional football team. This unique legacy project not only benefits and enhances the school, but the local neighbors and surrounding community can enjoy the enhanced play space for years to come.  It’s a perfect example of Ingredion’s Care First value in action,” said an Ingredion employee.

Playground VolunteeringThe day began with the removal of old playground equipment, some of which was more than 30 years old. From there, volunteers worked to assemble and erect new playground and fitness equipment as well as creating an outdoor classroom and nature area and painting picnic tables and playground equipment. The grounds of the school were also refurbished with the planting of bushes and flowers, trimming trees and creating a giant U.S. map and four-square games on the asphalt.
